Metaltex ISO 9001 Standard 1

Why ISO 9001 Matters, and Why Metaltex Holds It

Independent proof that quality is built into every job, not left to chance

Quality you can verify

When a customer sends Metaltex a drawing, they are trusting us with more than a part. They are trusting us with their schedule, their reputation and, often, their own customers. That trust has to be earned on every job, and it has to be backed by something more than our word.

That is why Metaltex Australia holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Quality Management System, independently audited by SAI Global. For a precision sheet metal and contract manufacturer that has been operating since 1979, it is the clearest way we can show customers that our quality is built into how we work, not left to chance.

What ISO 9001 actually is

ISO 9001 is the world’s most widely used standard for quality management. Published by the International Organization for Standardization, it sets out what a business must have in place to deliver consistent products and services and to keep improving them.

It does not tell a company how to bend steel or weld a frame. Instead, it requires a clear, documented system covering leadership, customer focus, defined processes, risk management, performance measurement and continual improvement.

Certification is voluntary. ISO writes the standard, but it does not certify anyone. That job falls to independent certification bodies such as SAI Global, which audit a business against the standard and keep auditing it to make sure the system stays in place.

Why it matters to our customers

  • Credibility and market
Many corporate, government and defence buyers will only approve suppliers who hold ISO 9001. Certification opens the door to tenders and supply agreements that would otherwise be closed.
  • Consistent quality
Standardised, documented processes mean the hundredth part matches the Fewer errors means less rework, less scrap and lower cost for everyone.
  • A genuine customer
The standard is built around understanding what the customer needs, then measuring whether we deliver it. Feedback is captured and acted on, not filed away.
  • Risk managed
Risk based thinking is required throughout the system, so potential problems are identified and dealt with before they reach a customer’s dock.
  • Global recognition
ISO 9001 is understood the world over. For customers with international operations or export ambitions, it gives a common language of
  • Continuous
Certification is not a one off. Regular surveillance audits keep us accountable and keep the system improving year on year.

Metaltex ISO 9001 Standard 2

What it means on our factory floor

At Metaltex, ISO 9001 is not a certificate on the wall. It is the framework behind every job that moves through our Dandenong South facility, from quote to dispatch.

Our fully integrated, in house capability covers laser cutting, CNC folding, robotic welding, fastener insertion and assembly. Keeping every stage under one roof, and under one quality system, means fewer handovers and full traceability from raw material to finished part.

Our integrated MRP and MES system tracks each job in real time across a 24 hour, five day operation. That data feeds directly into the measurement and review the standard requires, so decisions are made on evidence, not guesswork.

Most importantly, quality is owned by our people. Clear responsibilities, ongoing training and a culture of craftsmanship mean every team member understands their part in getting it right first time.

ISO 9001 also sits alongside our CyberCert Gold (SMB1001:2026) certification, and we are currently working towards AS/NZS ISO 3834-3 welding certification through Weld Australia. Together these give customers across more than 16 industry sectors confidence in our parts, our processes and the way we protect their information.

Built on 45+ years, audited every year

Since 1979, Metaltex has built its reputation on reliable, precision manufacturing. ISO 9001 certification is how we prove that reputation independently, year after year.

For our customers it means one thing: when you place an order with Metaltex, you are working with a supplier whose quality system has been tested, verified and is always improving.
